Give your views on NHS Proposals   Leave a comment

Give us your views on NHS proposals

People have until 9 September to give their views on proposals that could save money and help ensure a sustainable future for the NHS in east and west Suffolk.

Already, more than 600 people have responded to two proposals from NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk and NHS West Suffolk clinical commissioning groups, which followed the announcement by the CCGs that £13 million in savings need to be made over the coming year.

The first proposal is to reduce access to in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), which is the procedure used to conceive a child.  The CCGs are seeking views on reducing IVF treatment to one cycle only for eligible patients or reducing IVF treatment to 0 cycles.

The second proposal is to focus the Marginalised and Vulnerable Adults (MVA) service in the Ipswich area, where most of those who use the service are located. The service currently operates across east and west Suffolk and supports homeless people, refugees and asylum seekers, Gypsies, Travellers and ex-offenders. MVA is largely delivered through drop-in clinics and helps those people access the right healthcare service for their needs.

Dr Ed Garratt, the CCGs’ chief officer said: “We’ve been out and about at events across the patch over the last month, having really constructive conversations about these proposals. We’ve had more than 600 responses, with a varied mix of thoughts. This highlights just how much people care about their NHS.

“These proposals are not being made lightly and we know what impact they could have on people’s lives. However, the CCGs have to be honest about their financial situation. Change has to happen to ensure the future sustainability of core NHS services. “I would like to thank everyone who has already given feedback on these proposals and would encourage those who haven’t to do so by 9 September.” Full details of the proposals and how to give feedback can be viewed HERE

Feedback can be given via online feedback form, in writing or face-to-face at events being held across east and west Suffolk including:

  • Thursday 25 August – Market Square, Sudbury – 11am-2pm
  • Tuesday 30 August multiple central locations around Ipswich & east Suffolk area including Norwich Road (Ipswich), Stoke Park (Ipswich), Capel St Mary, Hadleigh, Woodbridge, Framlingham, Adastral Park- 10am – 2pm
  • Friday 2 September – Mildenhall – 11am – 2pm
  • Wednesday 7 September – Cornhill and Buttermarket, Bury St Edmunds – 11am-2pm

This was a great event very well attended and so much fresh produce on sale.  I went with my dear colleague Bob Hall and he had an expensive afternoon he’s bought a greenhouse!!!

I was so impressed how well these allotments are kept and Bill Wright was there too.  Bill was Mayor of Ipswich and there he was still working hard in the community.Bob 220826

Shed 8 Car Park   Leave a comment

The application for the continued use of the existing car park on Shed 8 is going to the Planning Committee on Wednesday.  This will include re-surfacing, new per perimeter fencing and soft landscaping.  The use as a car park is for a further 5 years.  You might be interested in viewing the report on the IBC website the Application No. is IP/16/00536/FUL.  It will be a huge improvement to Holywells Ward but I do hope they keep the proposed planters in better condition than those concrete ones on Duke Street.  I have asked that the latter be cleaned and replanted and I am optimistic that when I return from my holiday they will be a blaze of colour!!!!!

Fun Day in the Park   Leave a comment

Holywells Park 170816Yesterday was the last Fun Day the Friends of Holywells Park are involved in and we were very busy with teas and coffees.  Because it was such a hot day we ran out of bottled water very quickly so cups of tea were in great demand.  The Park was absolutely packed and without a doubt the Punch and Judy Show was a huge hit.  You don’t often hear adults laughing out loud but he certainly amused a huge audience and for no charge!  Maureen, Peter and me we did a good job!

Patrick’s Boxing Club   Leave a comment

After quite a considerable time I managed to persuade the Council to allow an application for funding to go to our South East Area Committee and Patrick’s Boxing Club in my Ward were awarded £4000.00 to help renew some of their equipment. They are so pleased and here I am with Rory who does such a wonderful job with the young boxers including Ted who is only 8 years old.  I am very proud to have been able to help such a worthwhile cause and wish them every success.
